General Conditions of Entry into Exhibitions
Receiving Day: Please make note of relevant receiving day as per Exhibition flyer and entry form. Receiving times are 12.30pm-2pm. Please note NO works will be accepted after this date and time. For out-of-town entries courier your work to Secretary, MAS, 5a Bary St, Blenheim 7201, with all paperwork attached (as per instructions below). Pick up and return freight is the responsibility of the artist. Any queries email info@marlboroughartsociety.co.nz.
Opening Preview: 6pm Friday before opening day
Entries: Works exhibited will be at the discretion of the committee. Every endeavour will be made to hang all works, space permitting.
Conditions of Entry:
The entry form will state the number of artworks per artist which may be submitted, $20 entry fee for members; $30 entry fee for non-members. Please label your work clearly. If you do not have a printer at home please use the one here or call into the Art Society and collect one from the front desk.
Works must not have been previously shown in any exhibition organised by the Society.
2D works must be able to be hung. 3D works will be displayed on plinths or directly on the floor.
Each work must have a swing label attached to the back of the work showing name of artist, title of the work, size of the work, medium, and price. Include a contact phone number. Attach near the top of the painting with string long enough to hang over the top please. Please see the sample swing label here
There must be no protruding nails, clips, screws, hooks or eyelets on the back of the work. No wet paintings will be accepted.
Any packaging to be taken away by member.
Commission will be charged as follows: Members 25% commission, Non-Members 30% commission.
Insurance is the responsibility of the exhibitor.
A requirement of Exhibitions is that all exhibitors volunteer to supervise the exhibition at the gallery (or nominate a willing family member/friend). A fee of $20 is applicable if not available. (If circumstances change and you cannot supervise on a day agreed it is your responsibility to find a replacement.)
End of exhibition pick up day. You must collect your work on the last day of the exhibition or arrange someone else to. The Art Society has limited storage so a fee will be charged if you do not pick up at the appointed time stated on the entry form.
